Every Youth Matters

We want to provide a welcoming community for all youth no matter where they are on their faith journey. At Epworth, there is a place for every youth to worship God, build a community of peers and adult leaders, and grow in faith.

We Welcome All Youth

We get that there is a lot of change in the lives of youth as they move toward adulthood, so we are committed to creating a safe and supportive place for every youth to belong. At Epworth, we celebrate the great diversity of God’s creation and it is our hope that everyone in our youth group will learn to respect, care, and encourage one another.

Small Groups

At Epworth, youth will discover a community of peers and adult leaders who are committed to helping them grow and explore their faith.

Sunday School

Sundays | 10:45-11:45 am | Room 002 | Contact Pat Engel

Our gathering begins casually with time for youth to catch up with each other. Then, adult volunteers lead a short study to empower youth to explore their faith and think about how it applies to daily life.

Youth Group

Sundays | 5:00-6:30 pm | Fellowship Hall | Contact Pat Engel

A weekly fellowship of teens in middle and high school, youth group is a fun place to build friendships and engage our faith.

  • we eat together
  • we check in with each other by sharing highs and lows from the week
  • we talk about a topic suggested by the group challenging each other to think about it from the perspective of our faith
  • we play games
  • we have fun and laugh together

Missions: Here & There

Mission work helps our youth connect with the world beyond their comfort zone, and allow them to see the intersection between faith and service. Our goal is for each youth to participate in one or more mission projects a year. Throughout the year we engage in a variety of local mission projects like feeding the hungry at East 10th Street Shelter, collecting and assembling blessing bags for neighbors without homes, and more.

Yearly, youth adventure to a new part of the country to serve. In 2016, the youth are going to Wetumpka, Alabama to partner with YouthWorks to help with basic repair projects and a community center for at-risk children.

FairShare Program

FairShare at Epworth United Methodist Church represents our best attempt to be fait and good stewards of church money while also encouraging youth to participate in the life of the church. Each youth going on the summer mission trip must be active at Epworth, measured by attending at least 6 events — worship, Sunday school, youth group, fundraisers, etc. — a month. In a typical month there are at least 12 events allowing flexibility for busy families.
