Children's Sunday School Ministries

Sunday School Children's Ministries at Epworth include: Sunday School programs are designed for children from birth to 5th grade. Morning and Evening Vacation Bible Schools, Elementary-age Fellowship Groups, and an Acolyte Program.

Philosophy of Children's Sunday School Ministry

Epworth United Methodist Church has a long-term vision of transforming lives through the children's Sunday School. We want our children to experience the love of Christ, to embrace Christ personally, and to develop into young adults with a mature and solid faith.

Our purpose is to love and nurture these children as they grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and His love for us all. To do this, we are providing a fun and purposeful learning environment that will help them remember their Sunday School experience all the days of their lives. Studies have shown that children retain better what they learn, when they experience it in multiple ways.

Programs

First, we offer childcare for children ages 0 - 5 years old during the 8:45 and 11:15 worship hours. These children are supervised by an incredibly gifted staff of loving ladies with over 20 years experience.

Then at 10:00 is the Sunday School hour. We keep the 3 and 4 year olds in a class all their own, with trained teacher volunteers in charge of their education. We have classrooms for the following ages:

  • 3 & 4 year olds
  • Kindergarten & 1st grade
  • 2nd & 3rd grade
  • 4th & 5th grade

Our curriculum for preschoolers and elementary children encourages the children to live out their faith in practical ways everyday. All of these lessons are surrounded by fun activities and fellowship.

Epworth Sunday Children’s Ministries offers lots of fellowship opportunities for our kids:

Cookie Sunday
Children are provided with all sorts of decorations to decorate their own cookie any way they want.

Sundaes on Sunday
Children are provided with an assortment of ice cream toppings as they build they own sundae.

Children’s Choir/Bells
Children are given many opportunities to perform for the congregation during worship times. We rehearse once every six weeks during the Sunday School Hour.
